2022 the year that was...
COVID-19 itself may have faded as a top story. But several of the top news stories this year stem from the ongoing repercussions of the global pandemic and its impact on the economy, the IT industry, and Australian businesses.
2022 could be considered Turbulent.
- With businesses and individuals returning to work, we saw continued supply chain disruptions with shortages on many things across all industries, leaving businesses scrambling to meet their customers needs.
- Economic uncertainty is keeping many business owners awake at night as they watch for signs of slowing sales.
- The ongoing threat of malware, ransomware and other cyberattacks against businesses, government agencies and IT companies remains a major story.
- Increasing demand for the new normal ‘hybrid’ working environments accelerated cloud adoption.
For KMT, this is the time of the year when we like to do a stocktake and reflect on the year that was, here are some of our highlights from 2022.

January
The 2022 Australian Open was an exciting start for 2022! Ashleigh Barty won the women’s singles title, the first Australian to do so since 1978. Spanish player Rafael Nadal won the men’s singles title.
Meanwhile, KMT kept hitting grand slams by expanding, our team reaching over 60+ staff at the beginning of 2022.

February
Australia’s external border reopened to all fully vaccinated non-citizens and non-residents after the border had been closed since 20 March 2020.
To the individuals and businesses, this symbolised reconnection and the renewal of possibilities.
The team at KMT ensure we remained connected to our local communities through our workplace giving program, greatly needed after 2 years of lockdowns and much turmoil in the homes of many Australians. We were honored to support the Annual Challange Gala Dinner and Golf Day to help children and families in need.

March
Google’s acquisition of incident response technology developer Mandiant for $5.4 billion in a move to compete with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. Acquiring Mandiant will significantly expand Google’s cybersecurity capabilities in real-time threat intelligence and incident response. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said his company plans to “reinvent security” for Google Cloud customers with the acquisition.
In the meanwhile, KMT was also reaching new records ranking 4th best MSP in the world by Cloud Tango, and in the theme of cyber security, we kicked off the first of our Cyber Security Webinars and had a fantastic level of attendance with over 100 Australian Businesses.

April
AFL Women’s Grand Final is held at Adelaide Oval, with Adelaide defeating Melbourne 4.5 (29) – 2.4 (16). Adelaide’s Anne Hatchard was named best on the ground.
At KMT, we love celebrating special holidays with our clients, and Easter this year, we sent out lovely cupcakes to over 120+ clients across Australia.

As part of Elevate & Celebrate Networking Events, we are creating a community that includes businesses and their key stakeholders to come together under the KMT Elevate & Celebrate brand.
We want to give back, to our clients and our community. So what we are providing our networks connection, which provides new business contacts, relationships and potential new business opportunities.
