2022 year in review

2022 the year that was...

COVID-19 itself may have faded as a top story. But several of the top news stories this year stem from the ongoing repercussions of the global pandemic and its impact on the economy, the IT industry, and Australian businesses.

2022 could be considered Turbulent.

  • With businesses and individuals returning to work, we saw continued supply chain disruptions with shortages on many things across all industries, leaving businesses scrambling to meet their customers needs.
  • Economic uncertainty is keeping many business owners awake at night as they watch for signs of slowing sales.
  • The ongoing threat of malware, ransomware and other cyberattacks against businesses, government agencies and IT companies remains a major story.
  • Increasing demand for the new normal ‘hybrid’ working environments accelerated cloud adoption.

For KMT, this is the time of the year when we like to do a stocktake and reflect on the year that was, here are some of our highlights from 2022.

January

The 2022 Australian Open was an exciting start for 2022! Ashleigh Barty won the women’s singles title, the first Australian to do so since 1978. Spanish player Rafael Nadal won the men’s singles title.

Meanwhile, KMT kept hitting grand slams by expanding, our team reaching over 60+ staff at the beginning of 2022.

February

Australia’s external border reopened to all fully vaccinated non-citizens and non-residents after the border had been closed since 20 March 2020.

To the individuals and businesses, this symbolised reconnection and the renewal of possibilities.

The team at KMT ensure we remained connected to our local communities through our workplace giving program, greatly needed after 2 years of lockdowns and much turmoil in the homes of many Australians.  We were honored to support the  Annual Challange Gala Dinner and Golf Day to help children and families in need.

March

Google’s acquisition of incident response technology developer Mandiant for $5.4 billion in a move to compete with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. Acquiring Mandiant will significantly expand Google’s cybersecurity capabilities in real-time threat intelligence and incident response. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said his company plans to “reinvent security” for Google Cloud customers with the acquisition.

In the meanwhile, KMT was also reaching new records ranking 4th best MSP in the world by Cloud Tango, and in the theme of cyber security, we kicked off the first of our Cyber Security Webinars and had a fantastic level of attendance with over 100 Australian Businesses.

April

AFL Women’s Grand Final is held at Adelaide Oval, with Adelaide defeating Melbourne 4.5 (29) – 2.4 (16). Adelaide’s Anne Hatchard was named best on the ground.

At KMT, we love celebrating special holidays with our clients, and Easter this year, we sent out lovely cupcakes to over 120+ clients across Australia.

May

Anthony Albanese is sworn in as the 31st prime minister of Australia, becoming the first Italian Australian to hold the office. In the meantime, KMT team participated pushup challenge 3 years in a row to raise awareness of mental health. We completed 23,349 pushups and raised $1,215 in 25 days to proudly support Lifeline Australia.

June

Proudly supporting diversity and inclusion, the world celebrated Pride Month and so did we.

On the awards front we were ranked #90 globally and #4 best MSP in Melbourne by MSP501 Channel Futures.

September

September was a blend of sweetness and sorrow, the world lost Queen Elizabeth II, and the crown was succeeded by King Charles III. Looking back in Victoria, the new champion of AFL has been claimed by The Geelong Cats after they defeated the Sydney Swans to win the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

In true grand final spirit, the KMT leadership team continue to grow, compete and innovate in our annual planning session.

October

This month, half of Australia experienced ongoing torrential rains that caused flooding in Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales. furthermore, Optus advises at least ten million current and former customers’ personal details are accessed in a cyber attack which raised the awareness of cyber security for businesses of all sizes.

We value every chance that we can connect with our clients. As a Managed services provider, it’s our ongoing mission to understand clients’ problems and understand the full context of your technology infrastructure and what needs to be done to ensure you can meet your growth targets and customer demands.

We also hosted a webinar where we invited panels of cyber experts, Allan Briggs from Crisis Shiel and Dudley Kneller from Gadens. in this webinar, we focused on hybrid workplace and cyber threats that all modern businesses are facing, and how to detect and protect our data.

November

November saw our very first annual Golf Day held at Riversdale Golf Club.

As part of Elevate & Celebrate Networking Events, we are creating a community that includes businesses and their key stakeholders to come together under the KMT Elevate & Celebrate brand.

We want to give back, to our clients and our community. So what we are providing our networks connection, which provides new business contacts, relationships and potential new business opportunities.  Coupled with the fact that every event will go towards supporting our charity of choice – more news to come in 2023!

We provide the ideal blend of personalised service, fast response times, combined with the capacity and ability to meet the increasing demands. In 2022, we are honored to work with over 130 exceptional businesses as their IT partner across Australia.

Don’t just take it from us, hear what our clients have to say…
12 months ago we were stressed, unhappy and basically a mess dealing with our previous service provider and you immediately turned that around.  From our first meeting, we had no hesitation changing to KMTech and that was all on the back of our dealing with you.  From there our experience with KMTech has exceeded any expectations we had, things couldn’t be running any better.
