What makes KMT’s culture so unique
Kaine Mathrick Tech’s success is a testament to the commitment of the leadership team to ensure the right person is in the right seat. Early 2020, the KMT Team embarked on a journey of establishing and embedding our purpose and values.
Undertaking this process meant that the commitment and relationship we had with our company values formed the framework for the decisions we made. In fact, we take this so seriously that our core values are the framework for how we hire our team and establish whether a person is a good fit.
We believe that core values in a conference room are useless. Core values as an integral part of how we manage our team, however, is powerful. Often businesses find it is challenging to explain why an employee is difficult. However, in our culture, we use our values to provide clarity on whether a team member is behaving in a united and accountable way and our experience is, it is very clear when someone is not in the right place.
Perhaps that sounds a little negative, but the positive is that we are able to work with that team member and establish if they understand the role’s expectations, if they want to do what is expected and do they have the capacity to do undertake the job. This highlights to both parties whether the individual is in the right job for the right reasons and often an employee will then self-select.
I joined KMT back in 2015 back before we had a proper office. Since joining the business, there hasn’t been a dull moment.
