Co-Managed Disaster Recovery Services (DRaaS)

Recover Critical Systems in Minutes, Not Days.

When ransomware, a site failure or a major outage takes your servers offline, your team shouldn't be rebuilding from backups under pressure. KMTech's co-managed DRaaS keeps a ready-to-run copy of your critical servers in a secure cloud, so you can fail over fast and keep the business running.

You keep control of priorities and sign-off. We bring the runbooks, the testing and the specialists who stand beside your team when it counts.

What Is Co-Managed DRaaS?

Co-managed Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is a cloud disaster recovery model where your internal IT team, KMTech and a specialist recovery platform share responsibility for getting critical systems back online after an incident. KMTech is an Australian cyber-first managed IT and cybersecurity provider, ISO 27001 certified and aligned to the ACSC Essential Eight. Our disaster recovery services replicate production servers as standby virtual machines in a secure cloud, ready to fail over when disaster strikes and fail back once the incident is resolved.

Having backups isn't the same as being able to recover. Attackers now target backup and recovery systems deliberately, and restoring a full server estate from backup can take days your business doesn't have.

  • Standby failover servers in a secure cloud
  • Test failover without touching production
  • Immutable copies stored off your network
  • Runbooks and testing managed by KMTech
  • Flat monthly price per protected server

Backup vs DRaaS: What's the Difference?

Backup keeps copies of your data. Disaster recovery keeps your business running. Most organisations need both, with DRaaS reserved for the servers the business can't operate without.

How Our Disaster Recovery Service Works

From Assessment to Tested Recovery

01

Assess and Define

We map critical servers and applications with your team, agree RTOs and RPOs, and choose exactly which devices need DR protection.

02

Enrol and Protect

Critical servers are enrolled and replicated as standby failover VMs, and we set up and test the site-to-site VPN before it's ever needed.

03

Test Failover

Prove readiness without risk. Test failovers run isolated from production, and automated recovery testing verifies recoverability on a schedule.

04

Production Failover

When an incident hits, your team makes the call and our specialists execute the runbook alongside you. Servers keep their IP addressing.

05

Failback

Once your infrastructure is recovered, we move workloads back on-premises on your terms and confirm everything works before closing out.

What's included

What You Get With KMTech Co-Managed DRaaS

Cloud Recovery Environment

A securely hosted DR site with no hardware to buy, host or maintain.

Test and Production Modes

Rehearse recovery safely, then fail over for real using the same plan.

Immutable, Off-Network Copies

Protection copies held in SOC 2 secure data centres, isolated from your network and out of ransomware's reach.

Recovery Reporting

Visibility of recovery success, how recently each server was verified and recovery times, ready for auditors and insurers.

Guided Networking

Best-practice VPN and network defaults, so servers come up without re-addressing and users reconnect fast.

Predictable Pricing

A flat monthly rate per protected server. Protect only what's business-critical and pay only for what you protect.

DRaaS protects critical physical, virtual and cloud-native servers. Everything else stays on managed backup through Managed Cloud & Infrastructure.

Why organisations invest

Recovery You Can Prove

Cyber Insurance

Insurers increasingly want proof that backups are secure, tested and recoverable. Tested failovers and reporting give you that evidence before a claim, not after.

Compliance and Audit

Show auditors where data lives, how quickly it can be recovered and what controls protect it, without pulling evidence together manually.

Replacing DIY DR

Retire secondary-site hardware and self-built cloud DR that's costly to maintain and rarely tested.

Incident Response Ready

Technology alone doesn't recover a business. Pair DRaaS with KMTech Incident Response so everyone knows their role.

Who we support

Built for Internal IT Teams Where Downtime Isn't an Option

For IT and infrastructure managers who own recovery but don't have the capacity to build and test it properly, and for CIOs and CTOs who need to show the board a tested recovery capability.

Frequently Asked Questions About DRaaS

What is the difference between backup and DRaaS?

Backup protects copies of your data. DRaaS protects your ability to run the business, by keeping ready-to-run copies of critical servers in a secure cloud so you can fail over quickly instead of restoring from scratch.

Is KMTech's DRaaS fully managed or co-managed?

Co-managed. Your team keeps ownership of priorities and failover decisions, KMTech manages configuration, runbooks, testing and recovery support, and the platform hosts and secures the recovery infrastructure.

How quickly can we recover?

Recovery time depends on your environment and agreed RTO. Because servers are pre-staged in the cloud, failover is measured in minutes rather than the hours or days a full restore can take. We confirm realistic targets during the assessment.

How is DRaaS priced?

A flat monthly rate per protected server. You choose which servers need DR protection, so you only pay for what's critical.

Where is our recovery data hosted?

Protection copies are held in SOC 2 secure data centres, separate from your network, with Australian storage available.

Do we need to buy hardware or run a secondary site?

No. The recovery environment is hosted and maintained for you, with no upfront hardware investment.

Can we add a server after an incident starts?

Servers need to be enrolled in DRaaS before they're needed. That's why the assessment identifies critical systems up front and we test them regularly.

Recovery Starts Before Disaster Strikes

The worst time to find a gap in your recovery plan is during an outage. Whether you're defining recovery objectives for the first time, replacing an existing DR platform, or need evidence for the board that recovery has been tested, we'll help you build it with your team, not around it.
